NECA NATIONAL EXCELLENCE AWARD WINNER 2017

ENGIE Services - DESA was awarded first place in the 2017 National NECA Excellence Awards for the Voice / Data Installation Project Category for the installation of fibre, communications, security and building management system at Perth Children's Hospital.

The installation comprised of a blown fibre and Category 6A structured cabling system throughout the entire hospital, including 2 main data centres, 42 field communications rooms, over 20,000 outlets, voice and security systems. Our team also had the opportunity to complete the final design and installation of the Building Information Management System. We are extremely proud to have developed positive relationships with all project stakeholders and deliver an outcome of outstanding quality which met the clients' needs.

NECA EXCELLENCE AWARD WINNER 2017 - Commercial Project Category

ENGIE Services DESA was the winner of the 2017 Commercial Project for the electrical, lighting and AV installation at Legoland Discovery Centre – Chadstone VIC.

ENGIE Services – DESA delivered a cleverly engineered and modern solution to meet the timeframes and budget expectations of the client. The project required us to work in consultation with overseas engineers, consultants and inspectors to ensure all imported equipment, including ride control panels, was rewired and met Australian Standards. This project was a great example of a well-designed, energy efficient installation, with the general lighting including LED lighting, lighting control and motion detection. The visual impact created by the lighting design, is integral to the Legoland experience and one of its key features. We are very proud to have delivered the project with zero lost time injuries or near misses.

NECA EXCELLENCE AWARD WINNER 2017 - Voice/Data Installation Project Category

ENGIE Services – DESA was the winner of the 2017 Voice / Data Installation Project Category for the Communications fit out of the Sage Offices in Sydney.

ENGIE Services – DESA was engaged to develop a unique RJ45 patch-by-exception structured cabling system, to match a no longer available one of a kind system. Our works compromised of the full Category 6 structured cabling system including all workstations, hot desks, AV data, CCTV, Cat 6a WiFi points and meeting room data. The communications room was a real challenge. Our solutions use of short patch leads and a unique design ethos meant that the solution is completely future proofed and ensured to stay neat when compared to a 'standard' RJ45 solution.

BICSI AWARD 2016 – DESA future proofs the MCG

DESA Australia won the ICT Infrastructure Installation of the year category at the annual Building Industry Consulting Service International awards for its exceptional work on the MCG Smart Stadium upgrade. DESA also received a Certificate of Commendation at the annual NECA Excellence Awards for the quality achieved on this technical installation.

DESA worked closely with the MCC to develop the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground into one of the world’s most technically advanced stadiums, involving the installation of copper and fibre optic infrastructure and 900 wireless access points, creating the highest density private Wi-Fi network in the world. The project also included an Internet Protocol Television Solution to 300 screens around the ground and the installation of LED ribbon screens around the boundary line.

“The vision of the MCC was to future-proof the “G”, where a capacity crowd would be able to access live replays, live stats and the best quality internet access on a smartphone or tablet.

NECA EXCELLENCE AWARD WINNER 2016 – Commercial Fit-Out

DESA Australia was awarded first place in the 2016 NECA Excellence Awards for the Commercial Project Category (up to $8 Million dollars) for the installation of electrical, communications and audio visual completed across a 7 floor for Jemena’s new Head Office.

DESA was awarded the electrical and communications package for this Melbourne based project which consisted of a 15,000sqm footprint and was delivered in just 30 weeks. The project’s key features included seven floors of interconnecting stairs, main communications room, floor communications rooms, SCADA control room, executive floors, boardroom, dining room, commercial kitchen, rooftop generator, approximately 900 work stations, meeting rooms and collaboration spaces.

NECA EXCELLENCE AWARD WINNER 2016 – Voice / Data Project

DESA Australia was awarded 1st place at the 2016 NECA Excellence Awards in the Voice/Data category, for the Westfield Sydney City Converged Services Network (CSN) project.

The project, conducted almost entirely at night over several months at Westfield’s flagship CBD site in Sydney, realised the vision of connecting building management, security and communications services over a single converged network infrastructure. Many existing technologies were migrated to the new network in staged cutovers, while keeping the retail precincts, office floors, restaurants, and Sydney’s iconic Centrepoint Tower operational at all times.

NECA EXCELLENCE AWARD WINNER 2015 – DATA CENTRE

DESA Australia was awarded first place in the 2015 NECA Excellence Awards for the Commercial Project Category (up to 8 million dollars) for the installation of critical power infrastructure within the new Digital Realty MEL11 Data Centre in Melbourne.

This project was a design and construct fit out of this new state of the art Data Centre. The design was still being adjusted and modified with the input of the client team during all phases of the project including the requirement for temporary wrap around power supplies to provide the ability of isolating the A or B sides of the UPS's without interrupting client power and operations.

The project was split up into two distinct works packages being Electrical Infrastructure and Electrical Fit Out. This was a large, specialist electrical project and the DESA team produced outstanding workmanship and management to bring home first place against 6 other high quality projects within this category of finalists.

NECA EXCELLENCE AWARD - CERTIFICATE OF COMMENDATION 2015 – AUDIO VISUAL

DESA Australia was awarded a Certificate of Commendation in the 2015 NECA Excellence Awards for the Voice/Data Category for the installation of the complete Audio Visual Technology Solution at the new CGU corporate head office in Melbourne.

DESA's partnership with Stokes Technologies enabled it to provide a turnkey AV solution for this project and through clever engineering and efficient product selection were able to deliver a leading technology solution.

This project incorporated Event AV, communications, power, c-bus and specialized LED lighting installation to CGU's corporate head office in William St, Melbourne. This project has certainly helped DESA showcase its capability as a serious solution provider in the Audio Visual industry.

CLIPSAL C-BUS PLATINUM INTEGRATOR OF THE YEAR - 2015

DESA Australia has been developing its presence in the Energy System Integration market over the past 5 years and in 2015 was awarded the prestigious status of Clipsal C-Bus Platinum Integrator of the Year.

Our C-Bus team were really pleased to be awarded the "Clipsal Platinum Partner" of the year for the Commercial Large Projects Category. This was in recognition of the great C-bus projects we have delivered this year and especially for the Tooronga Head Office Infrastructure upgrade project.

This project involved the implementation of Cbus for the control of all lighting and Integration with the Schneider BMS system at Coles Head Office facility at Tooronga, Victoria. This provided Coles with a fully automated, flexible and energy efficient lighting solution. Well done to both GS and PL Groups for working together with Coles on what is a great outcome.

IT SUPPLIER OF THE YEAR 2015

DESA Australia has again been recognised for its excellence in service delivery and has been named as Kmart Australia's IT Supplier of The Year in the "Brilliant at the Basics" category.
The award recognises the excellent work done by the DESA national team, in new Kmart store fit outs and reworked stores throughout Australia and New Zealand over the past 12 months.

DESA's exceptional team of technicians and apprentices deserve acknowledgment, not only for their great work ethic, dedication and patience, but also for the long nights and time spent away from home, delivering the works nationally.

CONTRACTOR SAFETY AWARD 2015

DESA Australia was recognized for its strong safety culture in receiving a safety award by Jones Lang Lasalle. DESA was recognized as the award winner out of a pool of over 100 contractors for being the most consistent in safety for the 2014/2015 year at their annual awards ceremony.-
Further to this award one of DESA's Foreman "Stuart Middleton" gained an honorable mention as the runner up for the individual safety award.

These awards have been really well received by the whole team and are just rewards for the extra effort the team at DESA have been making with Safety. JLL pointed out that the entire DESA team have been a pleasure to deal with while maintaining a safe working environment.

IT SUPPLIER OF THE YEAR 2014

DESA Australia was named the Myer Information Technology Supplier of the Year for 2014.

This was a great achievement given the quality of the field of finalists which included some of Australia's leading technology companies. DESA's national account management team worked seamlessly across the country to deliver a consistent level of high quality service in earning this recognition.

BICSI ICT Infrastructure Installation Award 2014

During the BICSI South Pacific Conference in Brisbane it was announced that DESA Australia was the winner of the ICT Infrastructure Installation award for 2014. The project concerned was the Brisbane and Sydney Ports Upgrade. DESA was contracted by Fujitsu to deliver this project to the end client, Hutchinson Ports. This was a large, high profile project delivered through great teamwork across those two states. It represents a landmark moment for DESA in terms of the implementation of our national strategy. Not only was this project delivered extremely well, the teams displayed a high level of innovation and initiative in taking on and delivering works packages that represented new areas of capability for DESA.

The final scope of works included the supply, installation and testing of the following:

  • Power distribution boards and outlets to all external ICT cabinets
  • Custom engineered stainless steel outdoor ICT cabinets
  • Extensive testing of thermal performance
  • UPS supply and installation
  • Redundant fibre optic backbone throughout site
  • Control cabling quayside and automatic stacking cranes
  • Structured cabling copper Infrastructure
  • HV and LV substation network control system (SCADA and PLC)
  • Variable messaging sign's
  • Security (Access control and CCTV).
  • Wireless outdoor infrastructure
  • Control cabling
  • Local data centre installation

NECA EXCELLENCE AWARD 2013

DESA Australia has recently been awarded first place in the NECA Excellence Awards 2013 within the Voice/Data category for a high speed, high density communications infrastructure installation at the new Digital Realty Data Centre in Melbourne.

Our brief was to assist with design and modeling of this new state of the art Data Centre to ensure any future requirements and standards where catered for.

Scope of works included:

 

  • Tight time frame on site of only 6 weeks.
  • Supply and installation of 315 x Network Racks and Chimneys.
  • Supply and installation of 520 x 240V and 415V intelligent power rails.
  • Supply and installation of 4600 x Category 6A UTP Ties.
  • Supply and installation of over 15,000 cores of OM4 fibre.

NECA Excellence Awards 2009

DESA Australia was recently awarded first place in the NECA Excellence Awards 2009 “Voice/Data small project” for our structured cabling installation at the new five green star rated Linfox Group Head Office, Essendon Fields.

With ever increasing bandwidth requirements being imposed on today’s cabling systems, a Category 6A STP cabling system was chosen for the installation. Being a shielded system, it breaks the mould of the traditional UTP (unshielded) systems predominantly used in the Australian market today.

The building was officially opened by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and Victorian Premier John Brumby on the 1st May 2009.

NECA Excellence Awards 2008

Winning the 2008 NECA Victoria Excellence Award for the best Large Voice/Data project was a great achievement proving that challenges can be successfully overcome.

DESA Australia were contracted to undertake a challenging task of installing the communications cabling office fitout across 12 floors for the Department of Infrastructure in an extremely tight time period. The Clients requirements was to install category 6a low smoke zero halogen (LSZH) cables because these contributed to the office’s “GREEN” environmental rating.

DESA’s First Indigenous Employer Award

On the 21st of October DESA emerged as the winner of the 2009 Private Sector Employer award.

The Wurreker awards are a high profiled event held every year at the Aboriginal Advancement League in Thornbury.

VAEAI (Victorian Aboriginal Education Association Incorporated) have held these awards for the past 6 years, the purpose for the awards was to highlight and praise People/Organizations that have contributed to the Employment and Education of the local Koori people.

On Presentation of this award in the Category of “Private Sector Employer” Aunty Geraldine Atkinson (VAEAI President) made special mention of this award and explained the high quality and significance of Category and further acknowledged the caliber of the finalists.

All 3 finalist were ask to attend centre stage to firstly receive a framed certificate stating that we were all finalists before reading out the eventual winner.  It was then that DESA Australia was read out as the recipient of the 2009 award.
